Yeah, I finally got around to trying that hiking trail you mentioned last month. The elevation gain was steeper than I expected, especially the first mile or so, but the canopy cover made it bearable even in the afternoon heat. I stopped at the little stream about halfway up to refill my bottle and just sat there for a few minutes listening to the water. There were these tiny orange mushrooms growing on a fallen log that I'd never seen before, pretty cool honestly. Made it to the summit just before three and the view stretched all the way to the reservoir on a clear day. A couple of deer crossed the path on the way down, didn't seem too spooked by me. I ended up doing about eight miles total and my legs felt it the next morning, but in a good way. The parking lot was almost full when I got there around eight, so definitely recommend going early if you try it on a weekend. I packed a sandwich and some trail mix and ate lunch at the top, perfect little break. Let me know if you want to go together sometime, I'd happily do it again.
