honestly it was such a good call to try that new ramen place on the corner. i went last tuesday around 6:30 and there was no wait at all. the broth was rich without being heavy and the chashu was so tender it fell apart with the chopsticks. i got the spicy miso and my friend got the tonkotsu and we both agreed it was the best bowl we have had in months. the soft boiled egg was perfect too — jammy center just the way i like it. the menu is pretty small which i actually prefer because it means they focus on what they do well. no weird fusion stuff or overpriced add ons. just solid ramen and good vibes inside. the decor is simple with warm wood tones and soft lighting. we sat at the counter and watched them pull fresh noodles which was cool. our server was friendly but not hovering which is the sweet spot for me. i will definitely be going back maybe even later this week. if you want to try it i would say go early before the dinner rush hits.

i also tried their gyoza as an appetizer and it was crispy on the bottom and juicy inside. the dipping sauce had a nice tang to it. honestly i think it is going to become my new go to spot when i want something comforting and not too fussy.

i finally got around to organizing my bookshelf over the weekend and honestly it felt so good. i had been putting it off for months and the stack was just getting out of hand. i sorted everything by color this time just to try something different and it actually looks really nice. the gradient from black spines to white ones across the shelf is super satisfying to look at. i found a couple of books i borrowed from a friend like two years ago and never returned. i texted them to say i still had it and they just laughed and said keep it. so now i guess i own a second copy of that one. i also found an old bookmark from a trip to portland tucked inside one of the pages and it made me smile. it had a little pressed flower in it that somehow survived all this time. i spent the rest of the afternoon flipping through old favorite passages and reading random chapters out loud to my cat. he seemed unimpressed but i think he liked the attention. there is something about physically rearranging your space that makes your brain feel clearer too. i think i will try to do a small declutter every season going forward. start small and not let it pile up again. anyway that was my weekend project and it was oddly satisfying.

the weather was perfect for it too — overcast and cool so i had the windows open and made a pot of tea. i put on a playlist i hadn't listened to in ages and just got into the zone. by the end of the day the room felt lighter and so did i.
