I think the best approach for the dinner is to keep the menu simple but really focus on quality ingredients. The roast chicken with herbs de provence is a solid choice because it's familiar but elevated. For the soup, butternut squash with a touch of cream works well as a starter since you can make it ahead. The key is timing everything so that the chicken rests while you finish the vegetables. I'd also recommend setting the table the night before to reduce stress. Let me know if you want me to bring a dessert or help with anything on the day of. I was thinking a simple apple tart would be nice for dessert since it pairs well with the fall flavors and isn't too heavy after the meal. You can prep the dough ahead and just bake it the day of which makes things easier. I found a great recipe that uses honey instead of refined sugar which gives it a nice depth of flavor and the crust stays really flaky. Let me know your thoughts on the menu and I can adjust based on preferences. I'm happy to handle the main course and starter and you can take care of the sides if that works better for you. Looking forward to it.

I wanted to follow up on the timeline for the community garden project we discussed last week. After reviewing the site plan and talking with the volunteers, I think we should aim for a Saturday morning kickoff in early May. The soil preparation will take about a full day especially since we need to amend the beds with compost and set up the drip irrigation system. I reached out to the local nursery and they confirmed they can deliver seedlings and starter plants the week before. We have about twelve people who have signed up so far which should be enough to handle the work in teams. I also checked with the parks department and they said we can use the water spigot on the east side of the property so we won't need to haul water from the building. Let me know if you have thoughts on the planting layout or if we should adjust the schedule. I think we can get the raised beds built and filled in one weekend if we divide into groups. The shed should arrive by mid-April so we will have a place to store tools and supplies. We may need to pick up a few more shovels and rakes but I can take care of that.
