Yes I think starting the garden beds a few weeks later this season is a smart move given how the soil temperatures have been staying cooler than usual. The raised beds we put together last year drained really well so that should help with the heavy spring rains we have been getting. I found a good organic starter fertilizer at the nursery that blends well with our existing soil mix. For herbs I plan to stick with basil and rosemary since they thrived in that spot by the kitchen window. The mint really needs its own container though because it took over the corner bed last summer. Let me know if you want to split a seed order to cut down on shipping costs. The local garden center is also offering a composting workshop next Saturday morning that covers both hot and cold methods. They provide a starter kit and I think it would help improve our soil quality over the long term. The workshop runs about two hours and includes a Q&A session at the end.

Thanks for asking about the shelving units I installed last weekend. They turned out really well and freed up a lot of floor space in the garage. I went with the adjustable kind so I can change the shelf heights depending on what I need to store. The installation was fairly straightforward with the wall anchors and a level. I organized everything by category which makes finding things much easier now. Power tools on the lower shelves and smaller items in clear bins on the upper ones. Let me know if you want help with your garage setup since I have some extra brackets and hardware left over from the project. I found that labeling each bin with a simple description helped too. The whole project took about half a day including cleanup. I also added a pegboard for frequently used hand tools which freed up even more drawer space.
