Yes, I think the smaller venue works better for the family reunion. The larger space had people spread across three rooms and it was hard to keep conversations going. The Italian restaurant downtown can seat about forty-five which is perfect for our confirmed group. They already have gluten-free pasta options and can adjust dishes for other dietary needs without any extra charges. We just need to send them the final headcount by next Friday so they can order ingredients and set up the room. I reserved Saturday afternoon at two if you want to walk through the space together before we lock in the booking. Let me know if that time still works for you.

The walnut stain for the bookshelf project dried lighter than the sample board showed so I am applying a second coat this weekend. I sanded everything down with 220 grit and used a pre-stain conditioner which helped the pine absorb more evenly this time. The trim pieces on the front edges came out well after I clamped them overnight. I also picked up a clear polyurethane topcoat to protect the surface since the shelves will hold a fair amount of weight over time. Assembly is mostly done except for the backing which I need to cut to size. Should have it fully finished and mounted by next week.
