I actually just got back from that hike we talked about last month. The trail was in much better condition than I expected after all that rain we had. I ended up taking the longer loop because the weather was so cooperative and I wanted to test out the new gear I picked up. The views at the summit were incredible, you could see all the way to the reservoir on the other side of the ridge. I ran into a couple of people who were setting up camping equipment near the midpoint shelter and they mentioned the path ahead was clear all the way through. Next time I'll definitely bring more water because I underestimated how much I'd need for the full circuit. The whole thing took about six hours including breaks and I barely had any cell reception which was honestly a nice break from the constant notifications. I should probably start going on more weekends again like we used to. The dog absolutely loved it too and slept all the way home in the car which was a bonus because normally she is restless for the entire drive back.
