I actually just got back from trying that trail you recommended last week. The elevation gain was no joke but the view at the top was absolutely worth it. We started around 7 AM to beat the heat and had the summit mostly to ourselves. Saw a family of deer about halfway up which was unexpected. The wildflowers are starting to bloom too which made the whole hike feel extra special. I would say bring at least two liters of water per person because there is no shade for the last mile. My legs are definitely feeling it today but in a good way. Let me know if you want to try another route next weekend I have been looking at that loop trail near the lake. I think it might be a bit easier but still scenic. We could also grab lunch after at that deli we passed last time. The weather should be perfect for it and I know you enjoy a good outdoor day as much as I do. Just let me know what you think and we can plan from there.

I also wanted to mention that the parking at the trailhead was surprisingly full by 8 so we had to park a little further down and walk over. Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind if we go again on a weekend. The trail was well marked though and we didn't have any trouble following the route. There is a nice stream about a mile in that makes for a good rest stop. I think you would really enjoy this one.

I finally started watching that series you told me about last month and I cannot believe I waited this long to get into it. The writing is so sharp and the characters actually feel like real people which is rare these days. I binge watched the first six episodes last night and had to force myself to stop so I could get some sleep. The plot twists in episode four completely caught me off guard I actually had to rewind to make sure I saw it right. I think you would really enjoy how the story develops in the later episodes based on what you told me about your taste. The soundtrack is also surprisingly good which adds a lot to the atmosphere. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation because I was stuck looking for something new to watch.

I also started reading that book you mentioned on the side and it pairs really well with the series because the themes overlap in an interesting way. The character development in both is honestly some of the best I have seen in a while. I am about halfway through the book now and already planning to pick up the sequel.
