Yeah, I finally made it up to the trail last weekend. The weather was perfect, not too hot and the bugs weren't bad at all. We started around 7am to beat the crowd and it worked out really well. The view from the top was incredible, you could see the lake and the whole valley. I brought my camera this time and got some really nice shots. The whole round trip took about four hours with plenty of stops. I was sore the next day but it was totally worth it. I'm thinking of going again next month, maybe try a different route this time. There's a longer loop that goes around the ridge, about 10 miles total. Let me know if you'd want to join I think you'd really enjoy it. We could pack a lunch and make a full day of it. The trailhead has a nice picnic area near the parking lot so we could relax afterwards.

I tried making sourdough from scratch last weekend and it was quite an adventure. The starter took about five days to become active and I was convinced I'd done something wrong at first. But it finally started bubbling and had that tangy smell everyone talks about. The first loaf came out a bit dense but still tasty, and the second one was much better with a nice crust. I've been experimenting with different flour blends and hydration levels. The whole process is really satisfying, especially when you pull a fresh loaf out of the oven. I've been giving slices to neighbors and they've been asking for the recipe. I'm planning to try a rye version next week. It's become a fun little weekend ritual that I actually look forward to. The kitchen smells amazing on bake day and it forces me to slow down and focus on something hands-on for a change.
