Yes I think the trailhead near Julian would be perfect for Saturday morning. We could start around seven thirty to beat the heat and pack sandwiches for when we reach the ridge. My cousin mentioned the wildflowers are still decent at that elevation so we might get some good views. I will bring the map and a thermos of coffee. Let me know if you want to invite anyone else or if we should keep it small. I already checked and the road is open all the way to the parking area so no issues there. We should plan on about five hours round trip with breaks. Bring a jacket because it gets breezy once we clear the treeline.

I looked into that shed foundation question you asked about. For a twelve by eight structure you really want at least six inches of compacted gravel with a vapor barrier on top. Treated lumber skids work well if the ground is relatively level and you don't want to pour concrete. I used that method for my garden shed three years ago and it has not shifted at all through the freeze-thaw cycles. Just make sure to dig out the topsoil first and tamp everything thoroughly. You can rent a plate compactor from the hardware store for about sixty for a half day. Let me know if you want help laying it out next weekend.
