Thanks for your email about the trail conditions this weekend. I checked the weather and it looks like Saturday morning will be best before any chance of rain. The ranger station confirmed the loop trail is open but the upper ridge path still has some muddy sections. We should bring our waterproof boots and maybe pack an extra pair of socks. I will bring the trail map and compass just in case the fog rolls in. For lunch I was thinking we could stop at the overlook about halfway through. Let me know if you want to adjust the start time or meeting point. I can also bring my portable stove if we want hot tea at the summit.

I was looking at the book you recommended and I am about halfway through it now. The pacing is slower than I expected but the character development makes up for it. The way the author describes the coastal town really brings the setting to life. I can see why you mentioned the chapter on the old lighthouse keeper. There is a section about the tidal patterns that felt almost musical in the way it was written. I will finish it this week and then we can talk about it over coffee. Let me know if you have read anything else by that author because I would be interested in trying another title.
