Hey there, I just wanted to follow up on our conversation last week about the camping trip. I reserved the site at Pine Ridge for the second weekend of October. They had plenty of spots open when I called, but the ranger said availability fills up fast after the first frost, so I went ahead and booked it. The site has a fire ring and a picnic table, and there's a water pump about fifty yards away. I'm planning to bring my two-person tent and that portable stove I told you about. If you want to carpool, I can swing by your place on Friday morning around eight. Let me know if you need to borrow any gear. I have an extra sleeping bag and a headlamp you can use. Also, I'll handle the firewood since I have a chainsaw and can split some logs from the woodpile at my dad's place. It should be a great weekend.

I gave that new coffee shop on Elm Street a try this morning. The line was out the door, but it moved pretty fast. I ordered a plain latte and a blueberry scone. The latte was solid—smooth, not too bitter. The scone was surprisingly good, still warm on the inside. I sat by the window and read a few chapters of the book you lent me. The atmosphere was nice, very laid back and quiet despite how busy they were. I think I'll go back tomorrow and try their cold brew. They had a seasonal pumpkin spice muffin that looked tempting, but I held off. If you're free this weekend, we should go together. I know you've been looking for a decent local spot to work from on your laptop. This one has free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets. Just a thought.
