Regarding your question about the campsite we used last month, we stayed at Pine Ridge Campground near the lake. The sites are pretty spacious and most have good shade cover. We booked site 47 which was right near the trailhead. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The camp store had basic supplies but you would want to bring your own firewood. Make sure you pack rain gear regardless of the forecast because the weather can change quickly up there. The hiking trails are well marked and range from easy loops to more challenging climbs. We did the Lakeside Trail which took about half a day and offered great views. The kids enjoyed the nature center and the evening ranger programs. You can reserve online but popular weekends fill up fast so book ahead if you can. There is also a small swimming area at the far end of the lake that is nice for cooling off after a hike.

I wanted to follow up on your question about growing tomatoes in containers. You need at least a 5 gallon pot for each plant with good drainage holes. Use a quality potting mix rather than garden soil since it drains better. Place the containers where they will get at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day. Water deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry rather than giving them small amounts daily. A balanced fertilizer applied every couple weeks during the growing season helps. For staking, a simple cage around each plant works well as they get tall. Prune off the lower leaves once the plant reaches about a foot tall to improve airflow. Watch for hornworms which can strip a plant quickly if you do not catch them early. Cherry varieties tend to be more forgiving for beginners while larger beefsteak types need more attention. Mulching the top of the container with straw helps retain moisture and keeps the roots cooler during hot afternoons.
