As we reach the end of another incredible school year, it is hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. Together, we have created lasting memories, celebrated achievements, overcome challenges, and grown as learners and as a community. Our Parklawn family has much to be proud of, and I am grateful for the partnership and support of our students, staff, and families throughout the year.
As summer begins, we encourage everyone to take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends. We wish all of our Panthers a safe, joyful, and fun-filled summer!
This edition marks the final official Panther Press of the 2025–2026 school year. However, we will continue to share summer editions of the Panther Press with important updates and reminders. Be on the lookout for information about Back-to-School events, our Family Reunion in August, and other opportunities to reconnect before the new school year begins.
Be sure to save the date: the first day of school for the 2026–2027 school year is Monday, August 24. We look forward to welcoming panthers back for another fantastic year of learning and growth! For those beginning new journeys, we wish you much happiness.
Thank you for being an important part of our Parklawn family. Have a wonderful summer!

FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number of days has been reduced from eight to four.
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.
Please view the dates for our school’s early release Wednesdays below:
- October 21
