Hey, I finally got around to looking at that old Schwinn you mentioned. The frame is actually in pretty good shape, just some surface rust on the handlebars. I think with a good sanding and a fresh coat of paint, it could look really sharp. The tires are shot, obviously, but you can still get those thick whitewalls online without too much trouble. I found a place that sells the original style grips, which is nice because I didn't want to go with something modern. The chain is rusted solid, so that whole drivetrain will need to be replaced. It might sound like a lot, but it's mostly straightforward. There is a bike co-op downtown that has a stand and all the tools you can use for free if you want to save some cash. They even have bins of used parts for a dollar each. I spent a Saturday there last month rebuilding a hub and it was surprisingly relaxing. We should plan a Saturday to go down there together. I can show you how to true a wheel if you want. Let me know what you think before I order anything, but I'm pretty confident we can get it back on the road without spending a fortune on labor.

So the other day, my dog just stopped mid-walk and refused to move. Just sat there on the sidewalk, staring at a fire hydrant like it was the most interesting thing in the world. A guy jogging by asked if he was okay. I had to just stand there for a solid five minutes until he decided he was ready to go home. It reminded me of that time your cat climbed the screen door and just hung there. Animals are so weird sometimes. Anyway, I think we should try that new coffee shop on Elm Street this weekend. I heard they have a really good cold brew and those pastries you like. Let me know if you're free Saturday morning.
