I think you're absolutely right about the trail conditions this time of year. We went up to the ridge last weekend and the views were incredible even though we had to turn back a bit early because of the afternoon thunderstorms that rolled in around 3pm. The wildflowers are still blooming in patches near the meadow and I would recommend going early in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds. We brought sandwiches and found a nice spot by the creek where we could hear the water running over the rocks. It was exactly what we needed after such a busy week at work. Let me know if you want to borrow my hiking poles or the portable camp chairs we have. We packed way too much food as usual so I have plenty of trail mix and granola bars left over that I can drop off if you need snacks for your trip. The parking situation at the trailhead has gotten worse but there is overflow parking about a quarter mile down the road now.

I also wanted to mention that the ranger station is open again on weekends so you can pick up updated maps and check on any trail closures before you head out. They have a new app too but I haven't tried it yet. Let me know what day you are planning to go and maybe we can coordinate if our schedules line up.

I finally got around to watching that documentary series you told me about and honestly it exceeded every expectation I had. The cinematography was absolutely stunning and the interviews really brought the whole story to life in a way I was not fully prepared for. I ended up staying up way too late watching the bonus features which is something I never usually do. The director has such a gift for finding the emotional core of complex topics and making them feel personal and accessible without oversimplifying anything. I have already started telling other friends about it and I am planning to rewatch the first episode this weekend because I know there are details I missed the first time.

Have you seen any of the director's earlier work because I noticed there is a film from a couple years ago on the same streaming platform that explores similar themes and I am curious whether it holds up as well. Let me know what you thought about the ending of episode three because I had a completely different interpretation than what most people seem to be saying online. I would love to hear your take on it when you have a moment. Also I finally tried that pasta recipe you sent me and it turned out great even though I substituted a few ingredients because the store was out of stock on some things.
