I finally finished that book you recommended and honestly I wasn't sure about it at first but by the third chapter I was completely hooked. The way the author describes the setting really makes you feel like you're there. I stayed up way too late two nights in a row because I couldn't put it down. The plot twist in the middle caught me off guard and I actually had to go back and reread a few pages to make sure I understood what happened. I think you'd really enjoy the sequel too from what I've heard about it. Let me know if you want to borrow my copy when I'm done. I should finish it this weekend U25Pg42sfh1tru if the weather stays rainy like they're predicting. Anyway thanks again for the suggestion it was exactly what I needed to get out of that reading slump I was in.

I tried making that pasta dish from the new cookbook I picked up last week and it turned out way better than I expected. The sauce needed a little more salt than the recipe called for but once I adjusted it the flavors really came together nicely. I added some fresh basil from the garden which gave it a nice brightness. The kids actually ate all their servings without complaint which never happens. I'm thinking of trying the risotto recipe next but I need to pick up a few ingredients first. The cookbook has a whole section on one-pot meals that looks really practical for busy weeknights. If you want I can send you a photo of the finished dish and the recipe notes. Let me know what you think and if you end up trying it yourself. I also found this great tip online about toasting the rice beforehand to add extra depth of flavor so I might try that too.
