I think starting with the venue layout makes the most sense here because the building has three main rooms that can be configured differently based on how many people attend. The separate kitchen area gives us options for refreshments without interfering with the main flow. Setting up registration near the main entrance with information stations spread through the main hall should work well for guiding attendees. Parking should be sufficient since there is overflow lot just across the street that we can direct people to. I can reach out to the facilities manager about setup times if that would help us plan more efficiently.

I finished reading that book you recommended and found the character development quite engaging through the later chapters. The pace does slow somewhat in the middle section but the final chapters bring everything together nicely. The coastal descriptions are particularly vivid and the themes about community and change give plenty to think about. I would be happy to lend you my copy when you are ready for it. Let me know what you think when you get to the end of part three especially since I am curious about your take on that scene.
