Yeah I think the camping plan works well for this weekend. The forecast shows clear skies so we should be good to set up on Friday afternoon. I can bring the tent and cooking gear if you handle the food and drinks. We should probably coordinate on who brings what for meals so we don't end up with too much or too little. The trailhead parking pass is something we need to sort out too since they check it pretty regularly on weekends. I usually grab mine at the ranger station but you can also get it online ahead of time which might be easier. Let me know if you want me to pick up anything else from the store when I grab supplies. I was thinking we could do a nice hike on Saturday morning then just relax by the camp in the afternoon. There is a good spot near the lake that is usually less crowded than the main area. I can also bring extra chairs if anyone needs them.

I tried that pasta recipe you mentioned and it came out really well. The key was letting the sauce simmer for the full 45 minutes like they recommended instead of rushing it. I added a bit more garlic than called for because that is usually a good move. For the pasta itself I used the bronze die cut kind which held the sauce better than regular pasta would have. Next time I might try adding some roasted cherry tomatoes toward the end for extra sweetness and color. The whole thing came together in about an hour plus the prep work. Let me know if you want the specific brand I used for the pasta since it made a noticeable difference in the final dish. Also I found that using a good quality olive oil at the end really helped bring everything together. The fresh basil on top is a must too. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread which worked well.
