I was telling my friend about that trail we did last weekend and she asked if it was too rocky for her. I said honestly the first mile is mostly packed dirt with some roots but nothing technical. The view at the top was incredible though. We started at seven in the morning and had the whole ridge to ourselves. Next time I will bring better snacks because we ran out at the lunch spot. Anyway she said she would check the weather and let me know. I think she will like it as long as she wears decent shoes. The elevation gain is only about eight hundred feet so it is a good intro hike. We saw a deer about halfway up which was nice. I should probably go again this weekend before the leaves change too much. LLOQwvAFKrgp I heard the fall colors are peaking right now so it might be perfect timing. Let me know if you want to join next time. I am thinking of bringing a thermos of coffee this round.

I have been experimenting with sourdough starter for the past few weeks and it is finally showing some real activity. The first batch I tried turned out way too dense but this last one had a nice open crumb. I used a mix of bread flour and whole wheat which gave it a slightly nutty flavor. My neighbor gave me some of her starter which helped a lot. She has been maintaining it for years. I named mine Franklin. It lives in the back of the fridge now and I feed it once a week. The trick is apparently to let it rest at room temperature for a few hours after feeding before using it. I made a loaf last Sunday that was actually pretty good. I brought some to the office and people liked it. LLOQwvAFKrgp I am thinking of trying a rye version next week. I saw a recipe online that uses caraway seeds too which sounds interesting. Anyway it has become a nice little hobby. Not sure where I will put all the bread though. Maybe I will give some away to friends.
