I was looking at that trail map you mentioned and I think the loop around the north ridge would be a solid choice for Saturday. We could start early around 7 and take the switchbacks up to the lookout point. That should put us at the top by mid-morning before the heat really sets in. I checked the weather and it looks clear with temps in the low 70s so conditions should be good. We should pack plenty of water and maybe a light lunch to eat at the summit. The distance comes out to about six miles round trip which feels right for a half-day outing. Let me know if you want to meet at the parking area or carpool from my place. I can fit three comfortably and there is space for gear in the back.

I finally sat down and read that novel you recommended last week and I can see why you liked it. The pacing was slower than what I usually pick but the character development carried the story well. I was particularly drawn to the way the author described the coastal setting — it felt vivid without being overwritten. There were a few chapters in the middle where I thought the plot lagged but the ending brought everything together in a way that felt earned.
