We looked at a few different options for the weekend trail run. The route near Pine Ridge seems most accessible because it is mostly shaded and has gentle elevation changes. About six miles total, with a couple of stream crossings that are easy to manage in trail shoes. If we start early, we could finish before noon and then grab lunch at that café near the ranger station. I can bring snacks and water. Let me know if you want to adjust the distance or add the loop around the lake instead. We should also check if there are any trail closures from the recent storms. I heard the park service posted an update on their site. I think this plan works well for everyone's schedule. It will be a good chance to get outside and catch up.

I was thinking about the garden layout for next spring. The raised beds worked well this year, especially the tomatoes and peppers. I want to try a few different varieties of squash and maybe add a trellis for cucumbers. The compost pile is almost ready to use, so I will mix that into the soil before planting. One thing I learned is to space the rows a bit wider to allow better air circulation. That should help with the powdery mildew we saw on the zucchini. I also want to put in some marigolds around the edges since they seem to keep certain pests away. Let me know what you plan to grow and we can swap seeds again. It was helpful last season to share tips about watering schedules and soil amendments.
