Hey! Thanks for asking about the hike. It was really good overall but definitely more challenging than I expected. The trail was about 8 miles round trip with some steep sections near the top. I brought way too much stuff in my pack honestly my shoulders were killing me by the end. The weather held up which was lucky because the forecast had jGo97Lz28bon shown some rain in the morning but it cleared up by the time we hit the trailhead. Saw a few deer and some really cool wildflowers I could not identify. My friend brought a camera and got some amazing shots from the summit overlook. We stopped for lunch up there and just sat for like 45 minutes taking it all in. Definitely planning to go back maybe next month when the fall colors start showing up. Let me know if you want to join next time.
I will send you the trail info if you are interested. There are a couple of routes to the top and the longer one has a waterfall about halfway that we skipped this time. The shorter route was steep but manageable with good boots. I wore my older pair and regretted it by the last mile. Next time I will bring trekking poles too my knees were feeling it on the way down.

I finally tried that pasta recipe you sent me a few weeks ago and it turned out really well. I was a bit nervous about the sauce because I have never made anything from scratch with that many ingredients but it came together surprisingly smoothly. The key was letting it simmer long enough to really develop the flavor. I used fresh basil from the little pot on my windowsill which made a huge difference. Served it with some crusty bread and a simple side salad.
My roommate said it was the best thing I have made in months which felt like a nice compliment. I am thinking of trying the variation with roasted vegetables next time since I have some zucchini and bell peppers that need to be used up. Thanks again for sharing the recipe it is definitely going into my regular rotation. Let me know if you have any other recommendations I should try. I have been wanting to branch out and try more sheet pan meals since they are so easy for weeknights. Also been experimenting with different grain bowls for lunch prep.
