I've been trying to get better at sketching lately and it's been a humbling experience. I picked up a basic set of graphite pencils and a sketchpad last month on a whim. My first few attempts at drawing a simple coffee mug looked more like abstract blobs than anything recognizable. But I've been watching some tutorials online and practicing a little each evening after dinner. The instructor emphasizes seeing shapes instead of objects which really shifted my perspective. Yesterday I managed to draw a decent-looking apple with proper shading and I was genuinely excited. nyX7mPAFCw I showed it to my partner and they could actually tell what it was which felt like a huge win. I'm trying not to compare myself to the amazing artists online but it's hard sometimes. The whole process has been surprisingly meditative and it's nice to create something tangible that isn't on a screen. I think I'll stick with it and see where it goes.

I finally decided to reorganize my garage over the weekend and it turned into a much bigger project than I expected. I started by pulling everything out onto the driveway and sorting it into piles and halfway through I realized I had way more stuff than I remembered. There were boxes from two moves ago that I never opened and a surprising amount of old sporting equipment. I found three tennis rackets a deflated basketball and a jump rope that still had the price tag on it. nyX7mPAFCw I ended up donating a bunch of things to a local charity shop and it felt really good to clear out the clutter. I installed some wall-mounted shelving and a pegboard for tools which made a huge difference. Now I can actually park my car in the garage again and it only took me about eight hours and several trips to the hardware store. The best part is that I can find things now without having to dig through piles of random stuff. I'm already thinking about what other areas of the house could use this treatment but I should probably give my back a few days to recover first.
