I finally got around to that hiking trail everyone has been talking about. Honestly, it was way more crowded than I expected, but the views at the top made it worth the squeeze. We brought sandwiches and ate them sitting on this old fallen tree. A couple of chipmunks kept circling us hoping for crumbs. I tried to take a photo of the valley but my phone battery died right as the sun broke through the clouds. Typical timing. Anyway, my friend Sarah brought her dog and he spent the whole time splashing in every muddy puddle he could find. By the end of the hike he was more brown than white. We laughed about it the whole way back to the car. It reminds me that sometimes the best days are the unplanned ones where nothing goes perfectly but everything still feels right. I should do that more often. Maybe next weekend if the weather holds up.

I finished that book my cousin recommended last night. I stayed up way too late reading because I could not put it down. The main character makes this decision about two-thirds of the way through that completely changes everything you thought you knew. I actually gasped out loud. My husband looked over from his phone and asked if I was okay. I just held up the book and pointed at the page. He gets it. We have this running joke where we try to guess the twist before it happens and he usually wins, but this one caught us both off guard. I already texted my cousin this morning to thank her for the suggestion. She said she had a feeling I would like it. I am already planning to reread the first few chapters this weekend because I want to see the clues I missed. It hits different when you already know how it ends.
