I think the best trail to start with is the Ridge Loop trailhead. It's about 6 miles round trip with some beautiful overlooks around the midpoint. You'll want to bring at least 2 liters of water per person because the middle section gets pretty exposed. The elevation gain is gradual so it's manageable for most fitness levels. If we leave by 7am we should have plenty of time to finish before the afternoon heat sets in. The parking lot tends to fill up by 9am on weekends so early departure is key. We can grab coffee at that new place on Main Street before heading out. Let me know if you want to swing by my place and we can carpool from there. I've hiked this trail a few times now and the views at the top are worth the effort every time.

I've been thinking about how to structure the book swap so it runs smoothly. My thought is everyone brings up to 5 books they're ready to pass along and we'll set up tables by genre. Fiction on the long table near the window, non-fiction on the side tables, and children's books in the corner so families can browse easily. We'll give out numbered tickets at the door and do a drawing for the leftover titles at the end. I'm planning to have some simple refreshments available. It would be great to have a couple volunteers to help with setup around 9am and a few folks to help with cleanup after. The whole event should wrap up by 2pm at the latest. Let me know if that timeline works for you and if you have any other ideas for making it more engaging.
