I think planting the perennials before the first hard frost makes a big difference in how they establish. The garden center had a nice selection of lavender and Russian sage that should handle our dry summers well. I picked up a few echinacea plants too because they attract pollinators and hold up well in rocky soil. If you want to come by this weekend I can show you the layout I mapped out. The raised beds need a fresh layer of compost and I found a local supplier that delivers for a reasonable fee. We could split a delivery if you are planning to refresh your beds as well. Just let me know what varieties you are putting in this season and I can adjust my plan accordingly. The drip irrigation system I installed last year made watering so much easier and the plants responded well to the consistent moisture. I saved the extra tubing and connectors if you want to set up something similar.

I looked into that hiking trail you mentioned near the ridge and the forecast looks good for next Tuesday. The loop is about seven miles with a moderate elevation gain and there is a nice overlook about halfway where you can see the valley. I packed a lunch last time I went and sat on the granite slabs near the summit for about an hour. The wildflowers should be peaking soon with the recent rain we have had. If you want to carpool I can pick you up around six thirty so we can start before it gets too warm. I downloaded the trail map to my phone and there is decent signal for most of the route. The parking lot fills up quickly on weekends so a weekday is a smart choice. Let me know if you need to borrow my trekking poles or a day pack.
