Yeah I finally got around to trying that new hiking trail we talked about. The weather was perfect last Saturday so I packed a light bag and headed out early. The trailhead was easy to find and parking was free which was a nice surprise SsxKpLkDBP. The first mile was pretty steep but after that it leveled out through a beautiful pine forest. There were wildflowers everywhere which I was not expecting this late in the season. I stopped for a break at the halfway point where there is a small creek you can sit by. Made it to the summit around noon and the views were absolutely worth the climb. You could see all the way to the reservoir on a clear day. I took some photos though they probably do not do it justice. The descent took about the same time and I was back at the car by 2pm. Definitely want to go back and bring a proper lunch next time. There are a few other trail options branching off the main path I did not explore. Let me know if you want to plan a trip out there together sometime. I think the fall colors will be stunning in a few weeks.

I finally made that lasagna recipe you sent me last month and it turned out better than I expected. I was a little intimidated by the homemade béchamel sauce because I have never made one before but the instructions were really clear and it came together smoothly. I used a mix of ground beef and Italian sausage since I could not decide which one and honestly that combination worked great. The layers took some patience to get right but the end result was worth all the effort. I let it rest for about fifteen minutes before cutting into it which made a huge difference in how well it held its shape. We had leftovers for three days and somehow it tasted even better the next day. I am thinking about trying the vegetarian version next time with spinach and mushrooms since the weather is getting cooler and I want something hearty but a little lighter. The whole thing took about two hours from start to finish but most of that was oven time. Thanks again for sharing the recipe. I will send you a photo next time I make it.
