Good afternoon. It’s Tuesday, June 9.

In today's newsletter:

  • The office of Republican Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom — who oversees Alaska’s elections — announced an investigation into the candidacy of Sen. Dan Sullivan's challenger for his seat, who shares the same name.

  • The state transportation department is considering action to lower speed limits along the Tudor-Muldoon corridor, a busy Anchorage thoroughfare prone to dangerous crashes.

  • A revised proposal for a rebooted Anchorage public safety advisory commission would give police and prosecutors greater influence over the group’s work while reducing the voting power of community member appointees.

Hanging on to items that you aren’t actively using can contribute to a chaotic life, and it has a specific name: conservation clutter. It’s a sneaky, hard-to-tackle type of clutter, but holding on to things "just in case" can also hold you back. Here are some strategies to help you part with unused belongings.

Anchorage weather

It's rainy and mostly cloudy today with a high around 63 degrees. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies and a chance of scattered showers on Wednesday, though we should see partly sunny skies later this week. Daytime highs will climb from the mid-60s into the 70s over the next several days.

Here’s what else is making headlines in Alaska today.
