Yeah, I finally decided to take a pottery class last month and it's been a lot more fun than I expected. The first few pieces I threw on the wheel were basically just lumpy bowls, but this week I actually made something that looked like a real mug. The instructor is really patient and she keeps telling me to focus on keeping my hands steady while the wheel spins. It's surprisingly meditative once you get into the rhythm. A few of us are planning to stay after class next week to try glazing our pieces. I'm thinking I'll go with a simple dark blue glaze for the mug. Anyway, you should come try it sometime, I think you'd really enjoy the whole process of shaping the clay. Let me know if you want me to grab you a guest pass for the next session. It's a really nice break from the usual routine.

I've been trying out that new bistro downtown that opened near the old bookstore. The atmosphere is really cozy with exposed brick walls and warm lighting. I ordered the grilled salmon with lemon butter sauce and it was cooked perfectly, flaky and moist. My friend got the mushroom risotto and said it was one of the best she's had in a long time. The service was a bit slow because they were packed, but the staff was really friendly about it and even comped us a couple of desserts. We tried the tiramisu and the chocolate lava cake, both were delicious but the lava cake was definitely the standout. I think you'd really like the place, they have a great selection of craft sodas and local beers too. We're planning to go back next weekend to try their weekend brunch menu. I heard they make really good Belgian waffles.
