Hey thanks for the note about the porch project. I spent a good part of the afternoon looking at different stain options and actually went with a semi-transparent cedar tone that should hold up well through the seasons. The deck boards are in decent shape just a bit faded from last year so I think a good cleaning and one coat will do it. I also checked on the railing situation and the posts are still solid no wobble at all. The local hardware store had a sale on brushes so I picked up a few extras just in case. Let me know if you want to borrow the pressure washer I have it free all weekend. I also found a good tutorial on sealing the corners properly which I can forward to you.

I wanted to follow up on your question about the hiking trail near the lake. I walked it last weekend and the conditions are pretty good overall. There are a few muddy spots near the creek crossing but nothing too serious if you wear proper boots. The distance is about 4 miles round trip with a gentle incline at the start. I saw some wild berries along the upper section and a pair of herons near the water. You should bring plenty of water because there isn't much shade after the halfway point. I would recommend starting early in the morning before it gets too warm. The parking lot fills up quickly on weekends so arriving before eight is a good idea. I can send you a map if you need one.
