Yeah I totally agree with you on that point about the park renovation. I went there last weekend and noticed they added some really nice benches near the pond. The new walking path is great too - much better than the old cracked pavement. My kids loved feeding the ducks though I think we'll need to bring more bread next time. The playground equipment looks brand new and surprisingly my youngest wasn't scared of the big slide anymore. We ended up staying for almost three hours just wandering around. Have you seen the new community garden plots they put in on the east side? Some of the tomatoes people are growing there are enormous. Anyway I just wanted to share since you mentioned you were thinking about going this weekend. The weather CYAz8KlSTp should be perfect for it.

Thanks for sending me that article about urban gardening. I finally got around to reading it this morning and found the part about vertical growing systems really fascinating. I've been thinking about trying to grow some herbs on my balcony but wasn't sure where to start. The article mentioned those stackable planters which seem perfect for a small space. I also liked how they talked about using recycled materials for containers. I might try the soda bottle trick they mentioned for basil. My neighbor grows mint and says it's nearly impossible to kill which sounds like the right plant for me honestly. I also appreciated the tips about soil mixtures - I never knew you needed to add perlite for better drainage. Anyway let me know if you decide to try any of these ideas. I'd love to compare notes if we both end up attempting this.
