I finally watched that documentary you recommended and honestly I was blown away. The cinematography alone made it worth the time but the storytelling was on another level. I had no idea the research process was that extensive. It made me think about how much goes into producing something that feels so seamless. My sister asked me about it and I told her she has to see it. I think you would enjoy the second part too because it dives even deeper into the personal stories behind the scenes. Have you seen any other films from that director? I read that the composer worked on it for over a year and that explains why the score felt so immersive. I would love to hear your thoughts on the ending because I had mixed feelings at first but then it grew on me. Let me know when you have time to chat about it. I am free this weekend if you want to grab coffee and talk through a few scenes again. It is one of those films that gets better the more you unpack it.
I also started that book series a friend lent me and I cannot put it down. The pacing is fast and the characters are surprisingly complex. I am already halfway through the third volume and I only started last week. Let me know if you have read it because I want to discuss the plot twists without spoiling anything for you.

Hey I just got back from the community garden and the tomatoes are finally ripening. I planted them way later than I planned this year and I was worried they would not make it. But we have had such warm weather that everything caught up fast. The basil is overflowing and I have been drying leaves to use through the winter. A neighbor showed me a trick for keeping pests off without using any chemicals and it has worked better than I expected. I am thinking about trying to grow carrots next season even though the soil here is a bit heavy. A friend said I should use raised beds and now I am looking into building a small one. I might start with just a couple of boxes to see how it goes before going all in. The whole process has been more relaxing than I thought it would be and I actually look forward to watering every evening after work. It gives me a reason to be outside and disconnect for a bit. Anyway let me know if you ever want to come by and see the setup. It is not much but it is coming along nicely.
I also signed up for that pottery workshop downtown — the one where you make your own mug. The first class was messy but I loved it. The instructor said my piece looked like a wonky tree trunk and I took that as a compliment honestly. I already signed up for the next session.
