I tried that new sourdough recipe you sent me. I followed every step but my starter was a total dud. The dough never rose and it turned into a brick. I ended up using it as a doorstop. At least my kitchen smelled like a bakery for a few hours. Next time I'll stick to the no-knead method. Let me know if you have a foolproof starter guide because I clearly need help. Anyway, hope you're having a good week. Let's catch up soon!
I also tried making your grandmother's cookie recipe on Sunday. I forgot to chill the dough and they spread into one giant blob. It looked like a cookie pizza so I called it a win. Everyone still ate them. I think the secret is extra vanilla. Thanks for sharing it!
Have you been to that new bookstore downtown? I stopped in yesterday and spent way too much money. They have a whole section on obscure gardening techniques. I’ll probably never use them but the photos were beautiful. Let me know if you want to check it out together.

I finally watched that documentary you recommended. It was really interesting but I had to pause it like five times to explain things to my cat. She seemed confused by the whole thing. I think she preferred the nature scenes. I've been trying to get more into documentaries lately because my attention span feels shorter than it used to. Podcasts have been my go‑to for background noise while I clean. Do you listen to anything good right now? I need recommendations that aren't too serious. Something light and funny would be perfect.
Also I bought a new kitchen gadget last week — a mandoline slicer. I almost cut my finger off on the first use. Be careful if you ever try one. The salad was fantastic though. I made a huge batch of coleslaw and ate it for three days. Next time I'll use the guard. Maybe I should start wearing cut‑resistant gloves. Anyway stay safe and talk soon!
Oh and thanks for the plant care tips. My fern is finally looking less crispy. I moved it away from the window and it seems much happier. I might even try a fern propagation soon. Wish me luck.
