I've been listening to this really interesting podcast series about ancient civilizations and the host has a way of making history feel alive and relevant. I started with the episodes about the Indus Valley aXmCxLPKmwHkDop and now I'm halfway through a deep dive on the Minoans. What I find most fascinating is how much we still don't know. Each new archaeological discovery seems to rewrite entire chapters of what we thought we understood. The episode on their writing systems was mind-blowing. They had plumbing systems that were more advanced than some places today. The amount of engineering knowledge they possessed is honestly humbling. I also listened to a segment about their trade networks which stretched across thousands of miles. Anyway, I thought you might enjoy it too. Let me know if you want the name of the podcast. I have a few episodes saved that I think you'd really like. The production quality is excellent and the storytelling keeps you engaged from start to finish.

It's refreshing to find something so well-made that you can really sink into. I've been recommending it to everyone lately.

I finally made it out to the state park last weekend. The trail I took was about four miles round trip with a moderate elevation gain. The weather was perfect with just enough cloud cover to keep the sun from being too intense. I saw a family of deer near the creek about halfway up and stopped to watch them for a while. The fall colors are starting to show at the higher elevations. The maples were turning orange and the aspens were that brilliant gold that looks almost fake in photos. I brought a simple picnic and ate lunch at the summit. There was a small pond nearby where I saw a great blue heron fishing. It was exactly the kind of day I needed. I'm already planning to go back next weekend to try a different trail that loops around the lake. A friend mentioned there's a waterfall along that route so I'm curious to see if it's flowing this time of year.

I've been trying to get outside more often and it really does make a difference in how I feel overall. Fresh air and a little bit of effort go a long way.
