Yeah I totally agree with you on that point about the garden layout. I think if you shift the flower bed a few feet to the left you'll get way more afternoon sun. My sister did something similar last spring and her tomatoes went crazy. The soil prep is really the key though. We spent a whole weekend mixing in compost and you could see the difference in just a few weeks. Oh and about the fence staining – I'd go with the semi-transparent option xMan8FK7cL and make sure to clean the wood first. The solid stuff peels after a couple of seasons and then you're stuck with a mess. A neighbor of mine used the solid and now he's having to strip the whole thing. What a nightmare. Anyway let me know if you want to borrow the power washer. I've got that weekend free and we could knock it out pretty fast. The weather looks good for it.

I finally got around to trying that pasta recipe you sent me and it was amazing. The sauce had just the right amount of garlic and the fresh basil really made it pop. I added a bit of lemon zest at the end which gave it a nice brightness. Also I swapped out the regular pasta for the chickpea kind and honestly I couldn't tell the difference. My wife asked for seconds which is always a good sign. Let me know if you have any other recipes tucked away. I'm on a roll with trying new things in the kitchen. Last week I made that mushroom risotto and it turned out way better than I expected. The trick was toasting the rice first and using warm broth. Small things like that make a huge difference. Anyway we should do a cook-off sometime. Loser buys the wine.
