I was thinking about what you mentioned yesterday and I think you're onto something with the gardening approach. My neighbor tried that method last spring and her tomatoes were incredible. She said the key was mixing compost into the soil about two weeks before planting. I've been reading up on companion planting too - apparently basil near tomatoes really helps with flavor and keeps pests away. I'm going to try it this weekend if the weather holds up. Anyway, just wanted to share that before I forgot. Hope you're having a good week!
I also came across a great podcast episode about soil health that I think you'd enjoy. They talked about no-till methods and how they improve soil structure over time. It's amazing how much life is happening underground that we don't see.
Let me know if you want to swap notes sometime. I'm always happy to learn from what others are trying in their own spaces.

Yeah I finally got around to watching that documentary you recommended. The cinematography was stunning but I felt like the pacing dragged a bit in the middle section. The director's previous work had a similar issue actually. Still, the interviews were fascinating and I learned a lot about the subject matter that I hadn't known before. I think you'd really enjoy the soundtrack too - it's been stuck in my head for days. Let me know if you want to discuss it more over coffee this weekend. I'm free Saturday afternoon if that works for you.
I also started that book you lent me and I'm already halfway through. The writing style is really engaging and I love how the author weaves in historical details without making it feel like a textbook. I'll have it finished by next week for sure.
