I was just thinking about what you mentioned at lunch the other day. I finally got around to trying that new coffee shop downtown and honestly it was pretty good. The pour-over was smooth and they had this cardamom latte that was really unique. I also picked up a bag of beans to try at home. Speaking of which I finally dialed in my grinder settings and the shots have been pulling much better. gT5PYZjg8Ru My neighbor stopped by and tried a espresso and said it was the best he had in months. I have been experimenting with different water temperatures and found that 200 degrees works best for the light roast beans I have been buying. The bloom time makes a bigger difference than I expected. Anyway just wanted to share the recommendation if you are still looking for a good spot to work from occasionally. Let me know if you want to go together sometime. I am usually free on weekends so just pick a day that works for you.

I spent most of the weekend working on that woodworking project I told you about. The oak boards I picked up last month finally acclimated to the shop humidity so I could start cutting. I decided to go with a simple dovetail joint for the drawers instead of the box joints I originally planned. Took a bit longer but the result looks cleaner. I still need to sand everything down and apply the finish but I am happy with how it is coming together. The new plane I bought made a huge difference in flattening the panels. Let me know if you want to see photos before I apply the polyurethane. I also found a great tutorial on cutting accurate half-blind dovetails that made the process much easier. The trick is to mark the baseline with a marking gauge and cut just shy of the line. I also picked up some new clamps that should help with the glue-up. Overall I think this might be my best project yet and I am already thinking about what to build next.
