I finally checked out that new vegan bistro downtown. The jackfruit tacos were surprisingly good, even though I am normally a huge fan of traditional carne asada street tacos. The house-made salsa verde had just the right amount of kick. The atmosphere was really laid back, and the staff was super friendly. bBW3ui2llbt9VyZ We stayed for dessert, and the avocado chocolate mousse was the highlight of the meal. I am definitely planning to go back next week to try their weekend brunch menu. Have you been to any new spots around town lately? I am always looking for recommendations, especially for places with good outdoor seating or live acoustic music on the weekends. Let me know if you want to grab a bite there sometime soon!

I have been diving into classic film noir this month. I started with "The Maltese Falcon" and worked my way through to "Double Indemnity." The dialogue is incredibly sharp, and the chiaroscuro lighting techniques are really something else compared to a lot of modern movies. I am trying to get through the AFI top 100 list by the end of the year. Next up is "Sunset Boulevard." It is amazing how well these stories hold up decades later. If you have any lesser-known noir recommendations that I should add to my personal queue, let me know. I am also curious about neo-noir films from the 80s and 90s that carry that same torch effectively, like "Blade Runner" or "L.A. Confidential".
