Hey, I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent. It's been about a week and it's actually bubbling nicely. I fed it this morning and it doubled in size, so I think it's ready to bake with this weekend. I'm thinking of making a classic boule, maybe with some rosemary and sea salt baked right in. I've been watching a lot of tutorials on shaping and scoring, so we'll see if it turns out decent. If it works, I'll bring you a loaf. Also, I found a great used bookshop downtown with a whole section on fermentation and baking. Picked up a really old copy of The Tassajara Bread Book for a few bucks. I finally got around to cleaning out the garage this weekend. It was a disaster – boxes from two moves ago, old paint cans, and a set of golf clubs I haven't touched in years. I sorted everything into three piles: keep, donate, and toss. Ended up taking two carloads to the donation center. The space feels huge now. I also found a really cool vintage lamp that just needs a new shade. It's brass with a green glass base, probably from the '70s. I'm thinking of rewiring it and using it in the reading nook. My brother said he'd help me with the wiring next week. Anyway, if you need any old towels or blankets, I have a few I'm holding onto for the animal shelter drive. Let me know.
