I finally made it out to the trail last weekend and it was exactly what I needed. The weather was perfect, not too hot, and the wildflowers were still blooming along the upper ridge. I packed way too much food as usual but better safe than sorry. The summit views were completely worth the early start. I ran into a fellow hiker who recommended a different loop for next time, so I think I'll try that one in a few weeks. The terrain was a mix of shaded forest and open meadows, which kept things interesting. I also tested out my new boots and they performed really well, no blisters or hot spots. It's nice to finally have a pair that fits right without hours of breaking in. I already checked the forecast for next weekend and it looks promising, so I might head back to explore that other loop sooner than planned. I also stopped by that little café near the trailhead on the way back and grabbed a cold brew and a sandwich. The place was surprisingly busy for a weekday afternoon but the service was quick and the outdoor seating was really pleasant. I think I'll make that a regular stop whenever I hike that area.
