Yeah I completely agree with what you said about getting started with something new. I actually signed up for a pottery class last month and it's been surprisingly therapeutic. The first few sessions were rough because my hands just wouldn't cooperate but after some practice I started to get the hang of centering the clay on the wheel. There's something really calming about working with your hands and not looking at a screen for a few hours. The instructor said it takes most people about ten sessions before they feel comfortable so I'm not too worried about my early failures. I've already made a few small bowls that actually look like bowls so that's progress. The studio has this nice quiet vibe with music playing in the background and everyone just focused on their own work. If you're looking for a hobby to try I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot. It's a nice break from the usual routine and you get to take home something you made yourself which is satisfying.

I think you'd really enjoy it especially if you like hands-on activities. The hardest part for me was learning to trust the process and not overwork the clay. Once I relaxed it started to click. Let me know if you want to check it out I can give you the studio details.

I finally got around to trying that pasta recipe you sent me last week. It came out pretty well even though I had to improvise a bit because I could not find the exact type of cheese it called for. I used a mix of parmesan and pecorino instead and it worked fine. The key was really in the timing of the sauce and pasta finishing together which I almost messed up but managed to pull off. I added some roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh basil on top which gave it a nice pop of color and flavor. My roommate said it was the best thing I have made in months so I will take that as a win. I might try it again next week with some adjustments maybe add some pine nuts for texture. Let me know if you have any other good recipes I should try. I am on a bit of a cooking kick lately and trying to expand beyond my usual rotation of dishes.

Also I finally watched that documentary you recommended. It was really well done and the cinematography was stunning. I had no idea about some of the behind the scenes details they showed. It made me want to learn more about the subject honestly. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
