I was looking into the best trails in the area for a weekend hike and found a few that look promising. The one with the waterfall is about four miles round trip with a moderate incline. We went last spring and the wildflowers were incredible along the path. There's also a shorter loop near the lake that's great if you want to bring a picnic and make a day of it without too much elevation gain. I recommend starting early in the morning before it gets crowded. Parking can fill up by nine on weekends. We usually bring plenty of water and some trail snacks. The views from the top are worth the effort even on a cloudy day. Let me know if you want to join us next time we plan a trip. I can send you the trail map and directions. The weather forecast looks good for the next few weekends so we should be able to find a date that works for everyone. I'll check the group calendar and send out a few options.

I finally finished reading that book you recommended about urban gardening and it gave me so many ideas for the backyard. The section on vertical growing was especially helpful since we don't have a lot of ground space. I'm planning to build a couple of trellises for climbing vegetables this season. The author also covers composting in detail which I've been wanting to start. The chapter on soil health was a bit technical but overall it was a very practical guide. I think you would enjoy the follow up book they wrote about seasonal planting schedules. I can drop it off at your place next week if you want to borrow it. The weather has been perfect for getting outside and starting some early seedlings. I picked up a few new pots and some organic potting mix over the weekend.
