Thanks for asking about Saturday. I think a small get-together with just a handful of people would be the most comfortable. The weather forecast looks pleasant so we could use the patio and maybe set up a few chairs on the grass if needed. I was thinking we could keep the food simple with some grilled items and a couple of sides that travel well. Let me know if you are aware of any dietary preferences I should plan for. Parking might be a little tight so I will send a note to everyone later this week with some guidance. We have enough seating for most folks but if anyone wants to bring a portable chair that could help. I can cover the main dishes and drinks and ask others to bring a side or dessert if they offer. Let me know what time you think works best for the group and I will coordinate from there.

Regarding your question about the trail conditions I checked with the park office yesterday and they said the main loop is open and well maintained right now. The elevation gain is moderate so it should not be too challenging for a casual day out. I would recommend starting early to avoid the afternoon warmth and bringing at least two liters of water per person. There are several shaded spots along the route where you can rest and have a snack. The trail markers are clearly posted so you should not have trouble following the path. I walked this trail a few weeks ago and it took about four hours with a few stops. The view at the top is quite pleasant especially in the morning light. Wear sturdy shoes because some sections have loose gravel. Parking is available at the trailhead but it fills up quickly on weekends so arriving before eight would be wise.
