I was thinking about what you mentioned the other day regarding that book club we started. The first few chapters were a bit slow but I think it picks up nicely after the protagonist arrives in the coastal town. I found myself highlighting several passages about the lighthouse keeper's routine. It reminded me of the summer we spent near the shore a few years back. The way the author describes the fog rolling in is really atmospheric. Let me know if you want to meet a bit earlier next time so we can discuss the symbolism before everyone arrives. I have some thoughts about the ending that I'm still processing. Also I came across an article about the author's T4cOUri7VzCIks inspiration for the setting and it added a whole new layer to the story for me. The town is based on a real place apparently and the author spent a year living there to research the dialect and customs. That kind of dedication really shows in the prose.

Yeah I completely agree with your take on that documentary we watched last week. The cinematography was stunning but the pacing felt a bit off in the second half. I read an interview with the director where they explained they had to cut about thirty minutes to keep it under two hours. That explains a lot actually. There were some side stories they mentioned in the interview that would have added more depth. I think I'll rewatch it with the commentary track sometime. By the way have you seen the new series everyone is talking about? I'm only two episodes in but it's really well done. The character development is subtle and the setting is beautifully shot. I think you'd enjoy it based on what you told me about your preference for slow-burn storytelling. The lead actor gives a really nuanced performance that carries the quieter moments. Let me know if you want to watch it together sometime. I also heard they are already planning a second season which is great because the first season ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
