hey, I finally tried that new pasta place on 12th street and honestly it was way better than I expected — the garlic bread had this crispy outside but was so soft inside and the sauce tasted like it had been simmering all day.

I went with a few friends and we all ordered different things so I got to sample around. the carbonara was the standout for sure but the tiramisu was just okay, a little too sweet for my taste. anyway we stayed for almost two hours just talking and the waiter was super chill about it so that was nice.

I've been meaning to ask you what you thought about that documentary we talked about last week — I finally got around to watching it and I have so many thoughts but don't want to spoil anything if you haven't seen it yet. let me know when you do and we can compare notes.

also I fed the neighbor's cat while they were away and it literally followed me around the whole time meowing nonstop until I opened a can of tuna. I think I've been adopted.

I just finished reorganizing my bookshelf by color instead of by author and I have to say it looks surprisingly good even though it makes zero sense when I'm trying to find anything.

my sister came over and asked if I had finally lost it and I told her it's called aesthetic reasoning and she just laughed. honestly the whole thing started because I found a box of old paperbacks from college and realized I had three copies of the same novel somehow so I figured a fresh system couldn't hurt.

I also finally tackled that pile of clothes I've been meaning to donate for months and filled two entire bags. there's something really satisfying about clearing out stuff you don't need anymore. it's like your closet can finally breathe.

anyway the weather here has been absolutely wild this week — sunny one minute then pouring rain the next. I got caught without an umbrella twice. I'm starting to think I should just carry one everywhere like a permanent accessory.
