Thanks for asking about the community garden layout. I think we should put the raised beds along the south wall where they will get the most sunlight throughout the day. The soil quality there tested better than the north side anyway. We could use cedar for the frames since it lasts longer than pine and does not need chemical treatments. For the pathway between beds, gravel would work better than mulch because it drains faster after rain. I already ordered seeds for tomatoes, peppers, and basil. Let me know if you want to adjust the spacing between the beds.

Also the irrigation system we talked about should work well with a simple drip line running along the top of each bed. That way the water goes straight to the roots and we avoid waste. I priced the components and the whole setup should be ready to install next weekend.

Regarding the book club schedule for next month, I think meeting every other Tuesday evening works better than weekly since people have busy schedules. The library confirmed we can use the community room on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 7pm. For our next selection, I was thinking about that new mystery novel that just came out. Several members mentioned interest in trying something different from our usual historical fiction picks. I can send a poll around to see what everyone prefers. Let me know your thoughts on the timing.

Also the discussion guide I found has some good questions about the author's use of setting and character development. I can share that document with the group ahead of time so everyone can prepare their thoughts before we meet.
