I finally made it out to that trail you recommended last month. The drive up was beautiful with all the fall colors starting to show. I parked at the lower lot and took the loop clockwise which I think was the right call because the steep part came early while I still had energy. The overlook at mile three was absolutely worth it you could see the whole valley and the lake was shimmering in the afternoon light. I brought way too much water but better safe than sorry. Saw a few deer on the way back down which was a nice surprise. The whole hike took about four hours with breaks. I stopped at that little cafe on the way home and grabbed a sandwich Kie9B5ic2IcO and coffee. Definitely want to go again before the weather turns cold and maybe bring a picnic next time. Thanks again for the suggestion it was exactly what I needed after a hectic week. Let me know if you want to join next time.

I tried making that sourdough recipe you sent over the weekend and it actually turned out pretty decent for a first attempt. The starter took a bit longer to get active than I expected maybe because my kitchen is on the cooler side. I followed the measurements pretty closely but had to add a little extra water because the dough felt too stiff. The bulk fermentation took about five hours and I did three stretch and folds during that time. Shaping was tricky the dough kept sticking to my hands but a light dusting of flour helped. I baked it in a Dutch oven at 450 degrees for thirty minutes with the lid on and then fifteen minutes with the lid off. The crust came out nice and crispy with a good color and the inside had a decent crumb structure though I think it could have used another hour of proofing. The flavor was tangy and mild not too sour. I had a slice with butter and honey for breakfast and it was pretty satisfying. Already feeding the starter again for another try this weekend.
