I think the raised beds should go along the south side of the yard. That way they get maximum sunlight throughout the day. You'll want to prepare the soil with compost about two weeks before planting. I found that adding a layer of mulch on top helps retain moisture much better. The tomatoes and peppers should be spaced at least eighteen inches apart to give them room to grow. Let me know if you need help turning the soil over this weekend.
