I think the weekend plan sounds good. The hiking trail we looked at last week should work nicely for Saturday morning. I checked the weather and it looks clear so we can go ahead with that. For the afternoon, I was thinking we could stop by that new place on Main Street that just opened. I heard their sandwiches are quite good and the outdoor seating area is nice. Let me know if you want to bring anything along. I can pack some snacks and water for the trail if that helps. We should probably start around 8 to avoid the midday heat. Sunday I have open so whatever works best for the group. I will bring a map just in case and a light jacket since the forecast shows a slight breeze later in the day.

The pasta dish you asked about is fairly simple to prepare. I start with a good quality olive oil in a heavy pan and add garlic sliced thin rather than minced. Let it warm slowly so the flavor infuses the oil without burning. Then I add tomatoes that have been halved and let them cook down until they start to break apart. A handful of fresh basil goes in near the end. For the pasta, I use something with ridges that can catch the sauce. I boil it in well salted water and finish cooking it in the pan with the sauce so it absorbs the flavor. A sprinkle of good parmesan at the table makes a difference. I usually serve it with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple green salad dressed with lemon and olive oil.
