I was looking at the garden beds you sent over and I think that design would work really well with the slope in our yard. The raised planter idea might actually solve the drainage issue we talked about last spring. I'm leaning toward doing a mix of perennials on that side and then some annuals in the front since the sun hits there differently. My neighbor tried something similar last year and said the soil warmed up faster than they expected. I'd love to get your take on the layout before I start digging because I know you mentioned that whole side of the property gets more afternoon shade than I realized. The measurements I took last weekend were about 12 feet wide and maybe 8 deep so I think we have room to play with the shape a bit. We could stagger the tiers to match the natural slope instead of leveling everything which would save us a ton of labor. Let me know what you think when you have a minute. The soil test came back looking good just needs a little compost to boost the organic matter. I'm hoping to get the frames built this weekend if the weather holds up.

I finally got around to reading that book you recommended last month and I completely understand why you couldn't put it down. The pacing in the middle section really surprised me because I expected it to slow down but instead it just kept building momentum. I stayed up way too late on Tuesday finishing the last hundred pages and honestly I was tired the next morning but it was worth it. The way the author wove together those two storylines made the ending hit so much harder than I anticipated. I've already started looking for other books by the same writer and I see they have a newer one coming out next spring so I'll probably preorder that one. I also started that other series you mentioned the one about the coastal town and I'm about a third of the way through it. The characters are starting to click for me now which is good because the first few chapters felt a little slow. I think you'd really enjoy the setting descriptions if you haven't picked it up yet. There's this one scene set during a storm that is just beautifully written. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for the suggestion because I was in a bit of a reading slump before that. FE8Bylm93E Let me know if you have any other hidden gems on your shelf because I'm ready to keep going. I'm thinking about trying something in a completely different genre next maybe even nonfiction for a change.
